First Meeting this Year

18 knitting students....wow! We had a fabulous first meeting with our new president, Madison. We viewed a video about casting on and knitting. Club members picked out their yarn and knitting needles. The Helping Hands Foundation has provided us with yarn, needles, and instruction booklets. We are most grateful! Our four young men were very enthusiastic and caught on right away. We will meet again on October 26 during clubs. We are available every day in the library for help and encouragement! We were so busy helping our new members get started that I forgot to take pictures!!!! Next time!
We viewed some online videos from Cyber Seams and they were very helpful.
Our Student Council Assoc. rep is Jazz F.

Welcome to the Fiber Arts Club

This is your opportunity to learn how to knit and create fabulous fashion accessories for yourself and gifts for your friends! The library will provide needles and yarn, instruction, videos, and a place to rest, relax, and have fun! We are all learning and helping each other in this group. The library has a number of resources: books and internet sources, online videos, and a great support group.

The club has a web page and we like to post pictures of your projects. As a community service project, we have a number of options such as hats and scarves for local shelters and baby hats for world-wide charitable organizations. Thanks for your interest and have fun!

Here are a couple of rhymes to help you learn!

Knitting:

In through the front door,

Once around the back,

Peek through the window,

And off jumps Jack!

And here is another knitting rhyme for the purl stitch:

Down through the bunny hole,

Around the big tree,

Up pops the bunny,

And off goes she!
